This workshop will focus on key aspects of nutrition and management of calves, heifers, and cows with a direct impact on economic returns for dairy producers. Examples of such key aspects include weaning methods, grouping strategies of cows, setting targets for ration formulation, and monitoring outcomes (data analytics).
About the Speaker
Alex Bach has been conducting research in ruminant nutrition and management for more than 20 years. He studies the physiology and metabolism of ruminants with especial emphasis on the impact of nutrition and management during early development on future metabolic function.
He has received several awards in recognition to his research activities, has spoken at more than 130 international congresses, is author or co-author of more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, more than 100 extension articles, and more than 20 books (or book chapters).
He has served as a scientific expert in several committees of the European Food Safety Authority and the European Research Council.
He is section editor and sits in the editorial board of several scientific journals, and is a member of various scientific committees. In his spare time, he enjoys running, biking, and windsurfing.
