BCVA Accredited Foot Health Trainer Course and CHCSB Accredited Instructor Course (Lantra Training)
Attendance at this course will allow:
- Hoof trimmers to become CHCSB Accredited Instructors
- Vets to become BCVA Accredited Foot Health Trainers
These are prerequisite qualifications to deliver the Lantra-approved First Aid for Feet and Intermediate Hoof Trimming Courses. A multidisciplinary team of a CHCSB Accredited Instructor and a BCVA Foot Health Trainer is required to deliver either of these courses.
Instructor / Trainer course prerequisites:
Hoof trimmers must be:
- A Fully Audited CHCSB Member
- Hold a current Emergency First Aid at Work certificate
- Have attended Lantra Train the Trainer course
Vets must be:
- An in-date Mobility Mentor
- Have an in-date active RoMS membership
This one-day course will cover all aspects of delivery of the Lantra programme from set-up to delivery. It will enable attendees to familiarise themselves with the structure and content of the courses alongside the materials (handouts and PowerPoints) that are supplied to assist delivery.
On the course, BCVA Foot Health Trainers will practice working closely with CHCSB instructors (and the course instructors) to establish the type of delivery partnerships being promoted for consistency in high quality training. The aspects of evidence-based best practice will be discussed.
There will also be a practical element involving cadaver limbs to build confidence in applying training techniques and ensure assessment of competency is standardised at the end of each of the Lantra-approved courses.
