Alice Miller

Board Member

After qualifying from Bristol University in 2009, Alice moved to Dorset, from Buckinghamshire, to start work as a farm vet. Alice worked in two farm practices over a 14-year period until recently having her daughter. In 2018 Alice graduated with the DBR from the University of Liverpool and worked towards gaining her Advanced Veterinary Practitioner status in Bovine Reproduction in 2020.

Alice first joined the BCVA board in 2020 and enjoys her responsibilities contributing to board matters, representing the membership and giving something back to the industry that she loves. Alice leads the student group and is keen to continue to work alongside BCVA’s student reps to support the next generation in their pursuit of farm-based careers. Alice also leads the education group and is keen to carry on developing useful resources and excellent CPD for vets in practice, whilst also tackling big issues such as recruitment and retention. Alice represents BCVA on the Red Tractor Dairy Technical Advisory Committee and the Red Tractor Dairy Sector Board and is keen to ensure our members views are considered at the highest level. Alice is on the congress planning committee and is looking forward to the event having helped put together an exciting and extensive programme.

Alice's professional interests are in cattle fertility, particularly heifer breeding, bull fertility and infectious disease control. Alice enjoys teaching DIY AI and calving courses for both farmers and students. Alice became a qualified mental health first aider in 2020 to help promote mental health awareness and offer support to both colleagues and clients alike and offers input surrounding this important subject to our wellbeing group. Out of work Alice enjoys photography, art, and spending time with her young daughter and husband, either traveling or on his farm, where she helps run Dorset Country Pumpkins, their pumpkin picking enterprise!
