
Ruth Vernon
Ruth qualified in 1982 and locumed for 6 months before returning to Leahurst as an Intern in Bovine Reproduction. After 12 months she moved to East Anglia to join a mixed practice, but focussed on cattle. In 1986 she set up her own practice from two rooms in her house, which started out 95% large animal. In 1996 Ruth achieved the RCVS Certificate in Cattle Health & Production. In 2004 Ruth became the first female president of BCVA and was also the first chair of the BCVA Medicines Group. Ruth sold her practice due to a knee injury and went on to provide consultancy to Veterinary Pharmaceutical companies. Currently she works for Pilgrims Pride offering support to their veterinary team based in East Anglia. Ruth is a season ticket holder at Ipswich Town Football Club and enjoys walking her dogs, going to music gigs and gardening .
