Ed Simmons

Ed has spent twenty-one years in Farm only practice, nineteen of those as a business owner, since graduating from the RVC in 2002. His experience daily the trials and tribulations of life at the ‘coal-face’ and hopes to bring some of that experience to the BCVA board.
Within the practice, they have a proud history of recruitment of new graduates; many of whom have stayed to become senior assistants and partners. Ed feels strongly about having graduates that are equipped to face the challenges of farm practice and remain practicing, especially in light of the current high attrition rates.
He has a firm interest in Bovine TB having seen the consequences of this disease decimate both in his own and clients’ herds. He believes we need to consider both the human and veterinary consequences when looking at disease control programmes and policies.
