Lysan was born some time ago in The Netherlands and graduated as a vet from the University of Gent in Belgium where she learned to love beer. Since then she has worked in large animal practice in Belgium, Northern Ireland and Scotland and as a lecturer at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, where she still holds an Honorary Lectureship. In 2008 Lysan became a BCVA board member and in 2011 joined the dark side and still works as a swine technical advisor for Boehringer Ingelheim.
