“Livestock and Climate Change - A Veterinary Perspective” is an online learning course designed to equip farm veterinary professionals with knowledge on some of the key issues of our time – climate change and animal health and welfare, and leverage our unique role as trusted advisors to the food and farming businesses around the world. Participants will explore animal welfare, nutrition and husbandry in the context of climate change, and will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to make changes in their own work, with tools to support farming clients to meet their goals. This unique, self-paced, 6-module course is expected to take up to 3 months to complete (equivalent to 15 hours of CPD) by remote learning, and has been designed to fit around busy work and life schedules. Developed by international veterinary consultancy group VetSalus, the course will provide participants with a LANTRA-accredited certification upon completion. Enrollment is now open. Learn more about the course and enrol at https://learn.vetsalus.com. For any further enquiries please contact Megan Williamson [email protected].
This credit-bearing short course in Ruminants, Camelids and Pigs (Anaesthesia and Analgesia) is run by the Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia MSc programme at the University of Edinburgh. The course will support students to develop knowledge of anaesthesia in cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas and alpacas, including aspects of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ethology, and is relevant to those anaesthetising these species in commercial, laboratory, and zoological contexts.
The course includes 5 weeks of teaching (starting 7th April 2025) and is taught entirely online, allowing students to fit their study around their professional and personal commitments. While the course can be taken as part of one of our postgraduate qualifications (PgCert/PgDip/MSc), it can also be taken as a stand-alone course as professional development, and carries 10 SQCF credits.
